Follow the slideshow below for the stages and a short description of my process. I am sorry to say that I have misplaced, probably mistakenly deleted some photos. One thing I would not do again was to outline with pyrography. It was very difficult to keep the carving consistent right up against the burnt edges and I would have had better results if those burnt grooves were not there. Always a learning experience!
Congratulations if you read this far! Hopefully I can post the completed photo soon!

How beautiful Jenn! Really love your progressive pics and comments. Am also happy to hear that you leave a piece for a while and then look at it with fresh eyes. I find myself doing that frequently but always have better results. Always a learning experience!😊

This is so pretty. Thank you for sharing your work. I have to say hummingbirds are one of my favorite birds.

I love your work! I learn so much from you. As with your videos, your explanations are clear and concise and the visuals are so clear. Thank you Jenn for sharing your knowledge and experience. I’ve only worked on a dozen or so gourds so far but my process has already evolved. I like to draw on a paper before I draw on the gourd and I even like to colour my drawing to see what it will look like before I use inks or acrylics on the gourd. As another person mentioned, I would love to see how you use colouring pencils.
