Forest Solace
This gourd titled Forest Solace is inspired by the peace felt while out in the woods enjoying God's creation. I wanted to feature gentle creatures, like this deer family as the main focus. Other animals an be found, raccoons and squirrels I chose for their amusing antics, and a woodpecker, for what is a walk in the forest without hearing the sound of a woodpecker?
The top two-thirds of this gourd has been burned in pyrography, very detailed, all done freehand. The design is completed around the entire gourd. A touch of colored pencil gives a subtle accent to a highlight glow. The bottom third has been carved with oak leaves and acorns and colored with stains and acrylic paint.
The measurement of this gourd is approximately 6 1/2" high and 7 1/4" wide.
It is coated with a UV protectant acrylic sealer in a matte finish.
