I have been thinking of creating new classes all year and have scrapped many ideas. Three “finalists” turned in to finished projects last month and these will be my new classes to offer in June at the PA Gourd Fest. You will able to register for the classes on the PA Gourd Society website on April 1st. Morris Chickadee This one is actually a continuation of a series of gourds I started last year. I have long had an interest in 19th century British artist/designer William Morris. His floral designs inspired my backgrounds in a series of bird portrait gourds. In this we will have fun exploring both realism of the bird and the graphic nature of the floral background. Then we will use some colored pencil over top of the pyrography. Shading Dolphins This is a great class for those who want to learn different ways of shading their pyrography. Each of the dolphins will feature a different shading technique and students will learn 4 in all. Chipmunk Nest This is a more advanced class on intensive shading details in realism. It will be done on a small piece of gourd so that students will have time to finish it- and plus it can be turned into a wall hanging! More details about the classes will be on the PA Gourd Society website and I will be sure to send a newsletter alert so you do not miss it! If you are not subscribed to my newsletter please be sure to sign up here.

What day will you be teaching the bird? Will it be an all day class? I’m not sure now about submitting a piece.
