New Work

5/1/2024

Saying I have had a busy spring is an understatement.  These last few months has been a challenge to balance work/life, all the things!
The gallery page is updated with a few of my newer pieces if you want to check that out.  I will highlight four gourd pieces with a little more information below.

Sea Turtles

Do sea turtles flapping through the ocean make you smile?  They always make me smile!  This large bowl is done with pyrography, carving and mixed media coloring.   The rim is coiled with natural pine needles, they are dry but retained a beautiful light green color.  I have been saving them for such a project!  Would you like to see the rest of this gourd? Mourning Dove

This gourd is part of my "Birds and Flowers" series.  She is perched on a dogwood tree branch.  There is something I find so delicate and sweet about mourning doves.  We have a pair that visits our birdbath every day.  I love calling to them and hearing them call back.  Or at least I like to imagine they are, they are probably just calling to each other!  This vase, is pyrography with a touch of colored pencil, a filigree carved background with pine needle coiled top.

Little Wren

Wrens are probably my favorite birds.  Well, one of them it is hard to pick a favorite!  There were a pair checking out my gourd birdhouse in the backyard today, I do hope they decide to nest there!   This is a smaller "shelf sitter" gourd and is done with pyrography with colored pencil.

Humpback Whales

This one I had started in the winter and finally completed it.  I will always have a place in my heart for humpback whales after seeing a momma and her calf with my dad on a whale watch when I was a teenager.  It is one of those special memories I have of my father; and after that I seriously considered going into marine biology as a profession.   I may have told that story before- but someone reading might not know that.  You can see the side with the mom and baby currently on my homepage.

A lab-grown diamond is a truly exceptional choice for anyone who wants a large diamond but prefers the ethical and environmental benefits of lab-grown diamonds. These diamonds offer the same brilliance, clarity, and beauty as natural diamonds, without the high price tag.

The quality of the laptop, how often it’s used for gaming, and the level of maintenance it gets all play a part in its lifespan. While higher-end models may last longer, even mid-range laptops may need occasional upgrades or tweaks to ensure longevity.
